Ghana’s film industry, also known as Ghallywood, needs a supportive environment to thrive, according to Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. She emphasized this at the inaugural Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA) 2025, urging institutions to foster creativity through education, training, funding, infrastructure, and intellectual property protection.
The Vice President stressed that the industry has immense potential for job creation, cultural influence, and economic growth, but requires sustained support from investors, policymakers, and stakeholders. She encouraged young creatives to prioritize quality and professionalism, noting that their talents are a national and continental asset.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the creative industry, with the Vice President highlighting the need for improved marketing, hospitality training, and research to enhance visitor experience and national branding.
