The Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has been actively involved in several initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery in his constituency.
– Acquisition of Surgical Equipment: Mr. Lukutor has facilitated the acquisition of new surgical equipment, valued at over GH₵500,000, for the South Tongu District Hospital. This significant investment is intended to improve the hospital’s capacity to perform surgical procedures, reduce the need for patient referrals to other districts, and ensure that residents receive timely and quality medical care.
– Establishment of Kpotame Health Centre Laboratory: He has provided essential laboratory equipment to the Kpotame Health Centre, enabling the establishment of its first-ever laboratory. This is a crucial step as the center had operated for decades without such a facility. The new lab will significantly improve diagnostic services for Kpotame and surrounding communities.
– Medical Oxygen Generator Installation: The MP also oversaw the installation of a 30 Litres Per Minute (30LPM) Medical Oxygen Generator at the Kpotame Health Centre, which is currently the only one serving the entire district. This will provide a vital supply of oxygen for patients in need.
– Renovation of Clinics and Support for CHPS Compounds: Other health-related projects include the renovation of clinics in Dordoekope and Agbakope. Additionally, he has provided motorbikes to the Xikpo and Besakope Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds to enhance their outreach and service delivery to remote areas.
– New CHPS Compound Projects: Mr. Lukutor has cut the sod for the construction of two new CHPS Compounds, complete with ancillary facilities, in the communities of Agorgany and Lolito/Nyinu. These new facilities are aimed at expanding access to primary healthcare services for more residents in the constituency.
These efforts highlight the MP’s commitment to improving health infrastructure and services, making healthcare more accessible and efficient for the people of South Tongu.
