“I don talk say no government appointee suppose dey mine anyhow. If you wan be miner, pack your load comot government,” he talk, and the crowd just dey shout in excitement.
To show say e dey serious about stopping illegal mining, President Mahama warn say any appointee wey go disobey go face as e dey hot, like sack from their position. E also talk say make security agencies increase their power against illegal mining, as dem don chop seven out of nine ‘no-go zone’ forest reserves wey illegal miners dey disturb before.
To show say dem dey follow through, dem don seize 55 excavators, three bulldozers, three pickup trucks, four pump-action guns, and 11 motorbikes. The President talk say illegal mining be serious wahala wey dey threaten our economy, health, and everybody dey suffer.
“Farmers dey lose their lands, rivers dey turn brown and full of wahala, and communities dey suffer,” he talk.
The ‘Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative’ wey be one of President Mahama’s 120-day plan with Ghanaians, na Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources dey carry am out. E dey try restore areas wey illegal mining and deforestation don spoil, as part of government bigger plan to fix our environment.
Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah don talk say dis initiative dey very important, because Ghana forest dey reduce fast-well, and e dey cause serious wahala for our environment. “Dis initiative dey try turn area wey don spoil back to life, make e fit support plants, animals and people wey dey live there,” e talk. E still add say dis program go help fix land wey don spoil, plus e go make people sabi wetin dey happen to environment, encourage tree wey we go plant, and boost biodiversity as we dey restore ecosystem.
