The National Sports Authority (NSA) boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, is backing the Black Stars to excel at the 2026 World Cup, but he’s warning them against complacency, especially against Panama in their opening match. Ankrah emphasized that Panama shouldn’t be underestimated, citing their energy and passion as potential threats. He also drew parallels with Ghana’s past successes, like their 2010 World Cup run, and urged the team to focus and avoid underestimating their opponents.
Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston echoed similar sentiments, stressing that Panama earned their place in the tournament and deserves respect. Kingston believes Ghana is in a tough group with England and Croatia, and any hint of complacency could derail their campaign.
Coach Otto Addo also weighed in, saying a strong start against Panama is crucial for Ghana’s World Cup prospects. He praised his team’s progress and harmony, emphasizing the importance of treating every match with seriousness.
