Several Miss Universe contestants, including reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig, walked out in solidarity after Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, was publicly berated by Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil.
The incident occurred during a pre-pageant ceremony when Itsaragrisil called Bosch “dumb” for allegedly not posting promotional content, sparking outrage and protests from the contestants .
Bosch stood up to Itsaragrisil, saying, “I have a voice. You are not respecting me as a woman.” The executive responded by calling security and threatening to disqualify those supporting her.
The contestants’ walkout was a powerful show of unity, with many expressing their discontent on social media .
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) condemned Itsaragrisil’s behavior, stating it was “malicious” and “humiliating.”
Itsaragrisil has since apologized, and the MUO has announced it will limit his involvement in the pageant and pursue legal action .
