A Thai court has issued an arrest warrant for Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization, over alleged fraud worth $930,000. The warrant was issued after Jakrajutatip failed to appear in court on Tuesday, with the court deeming her absence as a potential attempt to flee.
The charges stem from a complaint filed by a plastic surgeon, who accused Jakrajutatip of concealing information and making false promises when persuading him to invest in JKN Global Group in 2023. The court has rescheduled the verdict to December 26.
This development comes amid controversy surrounding the Miss Universe pageant, including a public bust-up between a male host and the winner, Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch, and allegations of sexism. Jakrajutatip’s company, JKN Global Group, acquired the Miss Universe franchise in 2022 but has faced financial difficulties, including defaulting on investor payments and having its shares delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
