Parliament has approved a budget of GH¢357.1 billion for the 2026 financial year, paving the way for government for its operations from January 1 to December 31, 2026. The budget, approved through the Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2025, will be funded from the Consolidated Fund and other public sources. Key allocations include:
– Compensation of Employees: GH¢90.7 billion
– Goods and Services: GH¢13.1 billion
– Interest Payments: GH¢57.7 billion
– Capital Expenditure: GH¢57.52 billion
– National Health Insurance Fund: GH¢11.27 billion
– Ghana Education Trust Fund: GH¢9.87 billion
– District Assemblies Common Fund: GH¢8.77 billion
The government has assured that it will not borrow from the Bank of Ghana and will service a $710 million Eurobond debt. The budget aims to support essential public services and drive key development initiatives.
