
Ghana Education Service (GES) don change the reopening date for single-track senior high schools (SHSs), e dey shift from March 29, 2025, to April 23, 2025.
Dis change dey for one circular wey dey dated March 27, 2025, and e go all regional directors of education. The letter wey Prince C. Agyeman-Duah, wey be Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, sign on behalf of the Acting Director-General of GES, tell regional directors make sure say the info reach all people wey dey involved.
“By dis letter, we dey ask regional directors of education to pass dis info to all heads of single-track and technical senior high schools make dem inform parents, guardians, and students make dem note di new date and prepare well,” di statement talk.
Why dem reschedule
Students suppose come back on March 29, 2025, after dem vacation on March 4. But because of di Eid-Ul-Fitr public holidays on March 30 and 31, dem shift di reopening go April 1, 2025. After further discussion, dem move am again to April 23, 2025.
One statement from di Ministry of di Interior explain say Eid-Ul-Fitr dey fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025, so di President use Executive Instrument (E.I.) declare Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as extra public holidays.
“But because March 30, 2025 be Sunday and for di interest of di public, His Excellency, di President of Ghana, don declare through Executive Instrument (E.I.) according to Section 2 of di Public Holidays Act (Act 601), say Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, be extra public holidays and e go dey observed like dat for di whole country,” di statement talk.
