German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is visiting Ghana for a three-day state visit, from November 2 to November 4, 2025. Here’s a rundown of his itinerary :
Day 1 (Nov 2): President Steinmeier arrived in Ghana on Sunday evening and was received at the Kotoka International Airport by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft.
Day 2 (Nov 3): Today, the German President will hold a closed-door meeting with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, followed by bilateral talks between their respective delegations in the Credentials Room. He’ll also:
– Inspect a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of the Presidency
– Lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, during a guided tour of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park – Engage with young Ghanaian IT specialists
– Attend a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence
Day 3 (Nov 4): The German President will travel to Kumasi, where he’ll:
– Perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute
– Interact with the Vice Chancellor, staff, and alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
– Visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research
– Pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace
– A State Luncheon will be held in his honour at the Presidential Banquet Hall The visit aims to strengthen Ghana-Germany relations, focusing on trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation .
