The Koforidua High Court has dismissed the petition challenging the election of Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, as the Member of Parliament for Suhum. The petition was filed by Kwadjo Asante, an independent candidate, and Prince Kwadwo Addo Tabiri, the NDC parliamentary candidate, alleging electoral irregularities.
The court ruled that the petitioners failed to provide sufficient evidence to support their claims, and the cross-examination by the respondents’ lawyers exposed significant weaknesses in the petitioner’s case. As a result, the court upheld Asiedu Bekoe’s victory, declaring him the duly elected MP for Suhum. The court also awarded GH¢200,000 in costs against the petitioners.
Asiedu Bekoe won the parliamentary seat with 16,855 votes, ahead of Prince Kwadwo Addo Tabiri, who polled 15,259 votes, while Kwadjo Asante placed third with 14,860 votes.
