The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), in collaboration with the STAR-Ghana Foundation and Democracy Hub, has launched the CSO Platform on Constitutional Reform.
This initiative aims to advocate for a comprehensive review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, ensuring citizens’ voices are reflected in the reform outcomes.
The platform will serve as a hub for dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration, strengthening Civil Society Organisations’ (CSOs) capacity to engage effectively in the reform process.
Dr Kojo Asante, CDD-Ghana’s Director of Policy Engagement and Partnerships, emphasized the need to reduce the executive’s dominance in national affairs.
Eunice Aghenyadzi, Head of Programmes at STAR-Ghana Foundation, stressed the importance of civil society actively engaging in the political process to ensure meaningful reforms.
The launch highlights the need for constitutional reform, with concerns about public disillusionment with democracy and waning trust in Ghana’s democratic system .
