Kim Lars Bjorkegren - Black Queens
Ghana’s Black Queens coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, is targeting a top-four finish in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to secure a spot in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team has been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde.
Coach Björkegren acknowledges the group is tough, but he’s confident in his team’s ability to make it to the top four. “For me, and I think for all of us, it’s a clear target to make the top four, to make the World Cup,” he said. “If we make the top four, then to push for the gold”.
The Swedish tactician has emphasized the importance of a strong preparation program, given the tournament’s proximity. He’s also scouting players based in Malta, including Salamatu Nte Abdulai and Selina Animah, to strengthen the squad.
The 2026 WAFCON kicks off on March 17 and concludes on April 3 in Morocco.
