
50 Ghanaians wey dem dey hold for United States go face deportation by mid-2025 after dem don get final removal orders, Ghana Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, don yan.
As he dey talk for Parliament on Thursday, March 13, the minister drop update for the matter, say 150 Ghanaians dey inside detention for different places for U.S. because of wahala like illegal entry, internet fraud, and rape. From that number, 50 don get final deportation orders and go repatriate soon.
He come talk say deportation process don finish for three people already, and their flights dey ready for March 19, March 28, and April 1, 2025. The remaining 100 detainees either dey appeal or dem don dismiss their case.
“Right now, 150 Ghanaians dey detention inside different centres for the US, dey wait for deportation because of crimes like rape, internet fraud, and illegal entry. 50 out of the 150 don get final deportation orders from court. Dem go deport by middle of 2025,” he talk.
According to the minister, Ghana diplomatic mission for Washington dey follow the matter well. Dem don help one detainee wey get health wahala and release am. Plus, the Ghana Embassy don interview 10 people to check their nationality and make sure say dem follow due process for their cases.
“Ten Ghanaians still don get interview from the Embassy to check their nationality and ensure say dem collect fair hearing,” he add.
Mr. Ablakwa assure Parliament say government dey serious to make sure say the rights of those wey dey affected dey respected as dem dey work with US officials to handle the deportation process.
