The NPP presidential primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026, and will determine the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. Five candidates have been cleared to contest, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
According to analysts, the primaries require statesmanship, with delegates urged to prioritize policy and vision over slogans. Dr. Bawumia’s campaign is seen as focusing on policy substance, accountability, and long-term national development.
A recent poll by Africa Policy Lens (APL) shows Dr. Bawumia leading with 69.7% of respondents finding his message clear and convincing, followed by Kennedy Agyapong (48.3%) and Bryan Acheampong (40.5%).
The results are expected to be announced on January 31, 2026, at the party’s headquarters in Accra, with the flagbearer officially unveiled thereafter.
