Trinity Rodman, the 23-year-old forward for Washington Spirit, has become the world’s highest-paid female footballer, signing a three-year contract worth over $2 million per year, including bonuses. This deal makes her the top earner in women’s football, surpassing Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati, a three-time Ballon d’Or winner. Rodman’s contract was made possible by the NWSL’s new “High Impact Player” rule, allowing teams to exceed the salary cap by up to $1 million for select players.
Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, has already made a significant impact in her career, helping the Spirit win the NWSL Championship in 2021 and earning 47 caps for the US Women’s National Team. Her agent, Mike Senkowski, praised the deal as “a monumental and game-changing moment”.
