GOC President, Richard Akpokavie, is in Luanda, Angola, for the African Youth Games, which kicked off on December 10, 2025. He’s leading a high-powered delegation, including Secretary-General Mohammed Muniru Kassim, to support Team Ghana’s campaign. The team consists of 40 athletes, 21 coaches, and 11 officials, competing in 16 sporting disciplines, including Athletics, Badminton, and Basketball.
Akpokavie’s visit aims to inspire and motivate the athletes, emphasizing youth sports development as a shared national responsibility. He’s been engaging with athletes and technical officials, listening to their concerns and affirming their dreams. Team Ghana has already secured 13 medals, showcasing their talent and collective belief .
The GOC president’s presence is expected to boost morale and sharpen focus as the competition intenses. Ghana is proud to be part of this continental event, nurturing confident, disciplined, and inspired athletes for the future.
