Alhaji Dauda Fuseni, the aspiring President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF), has pledged to rebrand amateur boxing and overhaul the federation’s operations if elected. He aims to restore pride and professionalism to Ghana’s boxing program, citing the current image as a deterrent for corporate partners and media interest.
Fuseni’s concerns were highlighted during a campaign meeting with coaches, where he expressed disappointment with the national team’s appearance at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai, where they lacked proper uniforms. He mentioned a partnership with local sportswear manufacturer BoxUp, which will supply equipment for the Black Bombers, but criticized the current administration for not utilizing it effectively.
Fuseni’s running mates, Mustapha Nettey and Solomon Otoo, promise an open-door policy and transparency if elected. They believe Ghana has the talent to win medals but lacks motivation due to poor management.
The GABF election is scheduled for early 2026, with Fuseni’s team positioning themselves as reformists.
