Bernard Ahiafor, Ghana’s First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has denied allegations of hostility towards a journalist, Christian Yalley of TV3, after declining an interview request in Parliament. Ahiafor explained that he wasn’t being unfriendly, but rather, the journalist had breached parliamentary protocol.
The incident occurred after chaos erupted in Parliament on December 9, 2025, during heated exchanges over the declaration of the Kpandai parliamentary seat as vacant. Ahiafor stated that he values the media and has always maintained a cordial relationship with journalists.
In a Facebook statement, Ahiafor emphasized his openness to engaging with Yalley and other journalists, stressing that responsible journalism requires courtesy and mutual respect. He invited Yalley for a one-on-one conversation, reiterating his commitment to productive engagements with the media fraternity.
