Togbe Ghana’s “Let’s Go Clean the Beach” initiative has taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability by planting 100 coconut trees at Osu Beach. This effort is part of a larger goal to plant 10,000 coconut trees along Ghana’s coastline, aiming to promote environmental sustainability, protect shorelines, and ensure cleaner beaches.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with DHL Ghana and YFM, garnered support from volunteers across various communities, emphasizing collective responsibility for environmental conservation. Togbe Ghana emphasized that maintaining clean and green beaches is a shared duty, stating, “Every coconut tree we plant today is a promise to the next generation”.
This project aligns with broader efforts to restore Ghana’s beaches, create jobs, and protect marine ecosystems. The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Togbui Fiti, also advocates for prioritizing indigenous coconut trees over foreign dwarf coconut trees, citing environmental and nutritional benefits.
