The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has pledged its support for the Africa Basketball Festival (ABF), recognizing the event’s significant impact on sports and tourism in Ghana. The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GTA, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, commended RITE Sports Services for organizing the festival, which has grown into one of the country’s most influential sports-entertainment events.
The 2025 edition of ABF is scheduled to take place from December 10-14, 2025, at the University of Ghana Basketball Court, featuring five participating countries: Ghana, China, Liberia, the USA, and Nigeria. As part of its support, GTA will host the participating countries on a special “Accra Tour” to showcase Ghana’s cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and tourism sites.
The festival will include a range of activities, such as:
– Basketball Competition: Five teams battling for the ABF Trophy
– Fashion Show: Five fashion brands showcasing their designs
– Musical Performances: Five electrifying performances from top contestants of the ABF Music Rising Star competition
GTA’s support aims to promote Ghana as a sports-tourism destination and reinforce its emerging status in the industry.
