Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Chairman of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Caucus, has urged the Open Parliament Working Group to swiftly implement action plans for prompt information delivery to the public. Speaking at the group’s end-of-year strategic review workshop, Bedzrah emphasized that Parliament’s prompt delivery of information is crucial, stressing that reports should be readily available to the public as soon as they’re laid in Parliament.
Bedzrah noted that although Ghana’s Open Parliament Action Plan was launched mid-year, there’s still ample opportunity to accelerate progress. He highlighted the need for consistent feedback to citizens and easy access to parliamentary reports and information. Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, reinforced the call for openness, emphasizing that public trust is central to Parliament’s legitimacy.
Key stakeholders, including Transparency International Ghana and Parliamentary Network Africa, have pledged support for the reform process, calling for closer alignment with national OGP priorities, improved evidence-gathering, and stronger citizen engagement.
