The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has pledged to support the completion of the abandoned Kwadaso Creative Art School in the Ashanti Region. The school, which is about 50% complete, has been stalled due to funding challenges. Minister Gomashie has assured that her ministry will engage with relevant funding agencies, particularly GETFund, to release the necessary resources to complete the project.
The Kwadaso Creative Arts School is expected to boost Ghana’s creative arts industry, which contributes millions of cedis annually to the national economy. The school will provide a dedicated space for young talents to develop their skills and is designed to serve as a hub for producing creative arts talents in Africa.
Construction of the school began in December 2019, and the first phase was initially expected to be completed by February 2022. However, work has stalled, and the minister has appealed for urgent financial support to prevent further deterioration of the structures.
