Abdullah Mason, a 21-year-old American boxer, has made history by becoming the youngest men’s world champion in boxing. He defeated Sam Noakes, a British boxer, via unanimous decision to claim the vacant WBO lightweight title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mason’s impressive skills, speed, and sharp accuracy earned him the win, with judges scoring the bout 117-111, 115-113, and 115-113. Noakes, who had a reputation for being a tough opponent, put up a great fight, but Mason’s superior hand speed and movement proved too much.
This victory marks a significant milestone in Mason’s career, improving his record to 20-0 with 17 knockouts. He’s now the youngest active male world champion, surpassing Xander Zayas, who won the WBO super-welterweight title at 22.
Mason’s achievement has sparked excitement in the boxing world, with many predicting a bright future for the young champion. He’s already eyeing big unification fights against top lightweights like Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez.
